Justice Brennan’s recently-opened correspondence folders includes a number of exchanges with Harvard Law School Dean Erwin Griswold over the course of nearly two decades. (See Part I, Part II, and Part III).

In June 1963, the Supreme Court decided School Dist. of Abington Tp. v. Schempp. The following October, Dean Griswold wrote Justice Brennan about his concurring opinion.

Four days later, Justice Brennan wrote back to Dean Griswold.

And finally, Dean Griswold invited Justice Brennan to judge the Ames Moot Court competition.

He declined.
