I heard something on the news this morning about HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius would be in Houston today, speaking at the Magnolia Multi-Service Center (7037 Capitol St). Somehow I wasn’t notified.

I called the Service Center, and they kindly told me the Secretary would be arriving around 10:15. She will first be interviewing pre-selected people who had their insurance policies cancelled. Then she will meet with the press.

I asked if the event was open to the public. The person on the phone as very nice, and said no. The meetings with patients would be private, and the press conference was only open to press. Mind you this is a public building. I seriously doubt that a public figure can hold a press conference in a public building and exclude citizens who wish to attend.
