That Time Stephen Breyer Was Expelled From the Soviet Union

July 3rd, 2013

Young Stephen Breyer, who was touring in Kiev, Ukraine, got into some trouble with the Soviet police when he drove some friends back to their village. Breyer was pulled over, and took a picture of the officer in his uniform. Big mistake. Breyer was “summoned before the director of the Intourist Office in Kiev” and was ordered to “leave the Soviet Union immediately.”
