Who is “the most influential man to never be president”?

December 6th, 2012

I saw a sign on a building in Richmond, Virginia that read “The most influential man to never be president slept here.” Who is it?

I posed this question on Facebook and Twitter, and received a number of replies: Ben Franklin, George Mason, Jefferson Davis, Alan Greenspan, Martin Luther King, Henry Clay, Alexander Hamilton, Milton Friedman, John Galt, Jesus, Moses, Robert E. Lee, Steve Jobs, Sherman Minton (?), Muddy Waters, John Marshall, Hitler, Lenin, Patrick Henry, and others.

The answer is below the jump.

The answer is . . .  John Marshall. The sign was found at the John Marshall House.

Needless to say, I do not agree with this.

I’ll blog more about it later, in addition to lots more constitutional places photos.
