Once 3D printing gets to the stage where people can instantly recreate anything, incentives to pirate goods will be far greater than anything we saw with Napster or Bit Torrents. I wonder if printers will have some kind of built-in privacy mechanism–similar to how YouTube won’t let you upload protected media. I’ll maybe write about this the future.
