Reyes Shrugged?

December 5th, 2011

Star New York Mets shortstop Jose Reyes just signed massive six-year, $102 million deal with the Miami Marlins. Assuming the Mets were willing to sign him to the same amount, I query how much *more* he will be able to keep living in Florida, a state without income tax, and presumably a city with lower taxes than NYC? This gives Texas and Florida sports teams a huge advantage! It also gives Texas law schools an advantage, as my salary in Houston will go much further than it would in a more tax-intensive state.
