Alito: “Oral argument is a relatively small and, truth be told, a relatively unimportant part of what we do.”

May 17th, 2011

This is something we intend to test next season on FantasySCOTUS. Are oral arguments relevant? We intend on offering a bonus (to be determined) to users who make accurate predictions after the case is briefed, but before oral arguments. We will see how much predictions change based on argument, and whether this leads to an increase in accuracy.

If Alito is right, then the accuracy before, and after arguments should be about the same.
