Chief Justice Roberts must like Squirrel Appreciation Day

January 21st, 2011

During oral arguments in FCC v. AT&T on Wednesday, Chief Justice Roberts conteded that often, an “adjective is very different from its root.” He provided “squirrel and squirrelly” as a rather curious example. Well now I know why he used that example.

Today is Squirrel Appreciation Day! The Chief must have been paying homage to these rats with tails. What, with his vote in United States v. Stevens, it’s the least he can do to help out furry little critters. Makes sense.
