How did Justice Kennedy make it from Washington, D.C. to Tucson, Arizona so quickly?

January 12th, 2011

SCOTUSBlog, and other outlets, report that Justice Kennedy was present during the memorial in Tucson, Arizona this evening. The memorial began around 8:30 p.m. EST. Oral arguments in Kentucky v. King concluded at 11:58 a.m.  How the heck did he get to Tucson that quickly? I did a quick search on Expedia, and I can’t seem to find any flights at IAD, DCA, or BWI that could have conceivably gotten him there in that short period of time. He must’ve flown on a private jet. Nice perk for a Justice. Justice O’Connor was also at the memorial. Maybe they hitched a ride together? Remember the time Justice Scalia hitched a ride with VP Cheney?

Update: The NY TImes reports that AMK was on Air Force One. That settles that.
