Take a look at JoshBlackman.com, Circa April 21, 2001

March 9th, 2010

Before the current incarnation of JoshBlackman.com, your humble blogger previously owned JoshBlackman.com back in 2001, when I was about 16 years old. The site had no real purpose. And I don’t think I ever added any content. Thanks to the Internet Archives WayBackMachine, check out the page here. It’s a real trip going back in time.

I have no recollection of making this logo. But I provide it for your viewing pleasure.

I also rode the Dot Com Boom, and launched my very own Computer Tutoring Service, aptly named ComputerTutorJosh.com. Check out the archived page here.

And of course, I had a logo 🙂

I suppose I was always tearing up the web.

Update:

And some screenshots.

The design for JoshBlackman.com, circa 2001, is largely incomplete. I had the same kind of drop-down menus I first saw on Microsoft.com, and thought were the coolest. I had no content, mind you. But I had drop-down menus.

This is so odd to see things I wrote about and did years ago, stored on the interent in perpetuity.

When I was about 14 I started a computer tutoring service in my neighborhood. I don’t exactly remember how I came up with the name Computer Tutor Josh, but somehow it stuck. I had at one point about 4 or 5 regular clients. I would go to their house, once a week, and tutor them how to use their computer. I charged $15 an hour. At the time that was easy money for me.

ComputerTutorJosh.com was nothing more than a collection of links to affiliate programs that 16-year-old me hoped would make him rich. Anyone else remember AllAdvantage.com? They paid you to surf the web? I think it was 15 cents a minute.

On this page you can see an earlier incarnation of the logo. Here were a bunch of useless links. I mean, maybe you do need a tutorial about Windows 98!

And my rudimentary effort to make Tabs. They were very tricky in Photoshop 3.0.
