In Memoriam to the Scholar of the Day: Richard A. Nagareda

June 20th, 2011

Professor Richard Nagareda, who passed away this past year, is the scholar of the day. His two articles, The Preexistence Principle and the Structure of the Class Action, 103 Colum. L. Rev. 149, 176,n. 110 (2003) and, Class Certification in the Age of Aggregate Proof, 84 N. Y. U. L. Rev. 97, 131–132 (2009), were cited prominently throughout Wal-Mart v. Dukes by both the majority and the dissent. By my count there are 7 mentions of his name. I suppose this may be a most fitting tribute to a gifted scholar.
